NEIL MURRAY

Paintings boil down to composition and color. Mine focus on a wide variety of subjects, but I am especially interested in horizons, land or sea meeting sky. Another recurring theme is close examination of plants, trying to portray what is at their center, their essence.

Generally, my paintings are representational, but they often include impressionistic elements. The world as I see it is a colorful place and thus, I paint it that way.

A retired educator, I am self-taught by intention and my wife and I reside in Pacific Beach, a wonderful coastal community in San Diego. My studio is on our property.
